ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones issued a statement on the signing of a number of bills that will help to bolster Georgia’s vitally important agriculture industry.

“I am proud of our ongoing efforts to strengthen Georgia’s number one industry,” said Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. “Our farmers are the backbone of our great state, and the legislation signed into law today aims to assist Georgia’s farmers, cut costs, and protect our farmlands. I want to thank Governor Brian Kemp and Commissioner Tyler Harper for their leadership and hard work to keep Georgia’s agriculture industry thriving.”

Senate Bill 340 – Extends the sales and use exemption for diesel exhaust fluid used for agricultural operations.

Senate Bill 420 – Prohibits a person who is not a U.S. citizen or legal resident preceding the acquisition of land from acquiring any possessory interest in agricultural land or land within a 10-mile radius of a military installation, excluding residential property.

Senate Bill 436 – Adds a definition for “operator” as it relates to the operation of farm use vehicles.
